Welcome to the Student Managed Investment Fund Website

The Kennesaw State University Student Managed Investment Fund LLC, established in August 2008, was created to provide real-time, hands on experience in portfolio management and investing for its top business majors.

The investment policies of the KSU SMIF are determined by the Student Executive Board consisting of student managers selected from amongst their peers through an initial application process and overseen by faculty advisor Professor Stefano Mazzotta, Ph.D.  SMIF membership is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of Kennesaw State University who have met the requirements set out by the fund’s management. Academic credit is available for participation.

The SMIF’s main investment focus is Strategic Asset Allocation primarily geared toward domestic equities.  Members research industry sectors with the theoretical tools acquired in the classroom and analytical research methods established by fund members.  The SMIF employ fundamental analysis as well as quantitative techniques to achieve its institutional goals.

The realization of the Kennesaw State University SMIF has been made possible through a generous donation from G.W. Henssler & Associates, Ltd. (GWH) of $100,000.00 and operates as a limited liability corporation, solely owned by the Kennesaw State University, a non-profit organization.
